Hi Liam, itâs been a while⌠And we have some questions for you!
How did wintertraining go for you?
Pretty good! I spent a long time in Portugal and went to Spain for a while (Red Sand). That all went well. During the long period in Portugal I was also able to train very well, together with Pauls Jonass and Alberto Forato. Testing in the winter period went well and the photoshoot also was great! I'm feeling good right now.
How do you look back at your 2023 MX2 season?
It was a great season for me. Of course, there are always things that can be improved, so we are trying to improve them this year. But there were a lot of positive things that we certainly take with us this season.
Whatâs your best memory of 2023?
There were several beautiful moments in 2023! Winning my first Grand Prix in Germany was of course fantastic, but the experience in Indonesia also left a very big impression on me. That was a really nice trip. And of course also the Grand Prix in Arnhem and Turkey that I won. I'll never forget those.
What 2023 moment would you like to forget?
*Liam laughs* I think the Portuguese Grand Prix â and especially that Sunday â was one to forget as quickly as possible. That was a tough one. But thatâs part of the sport and it was surely a learning moment there.
Youâre going to compete in some pre-season races. Are you looking forward to that?
Definitely! I'm looking forward to it and it's also a good time to see what the strengths and weaknesses are. Things we can potentially work on before we leave for Argentina.
Are you following the Supercross season in the US?
Yes, I find it very interesting. I don't think there has ever been so much talent at the start as there has been this year. So it's going to be a very interesting Supercross season!
What songs are on your top played Spotify list at the moment?
*Laughs again* I'm going to check it right now! I'm listening a lot to Foreigner (80s music). But 21 Pilots also passes by frequently at the moment, as do Fleetwood Mac, Praga Khan and Limp Bizkit. A mix of all kinds of things :)
]]>With two holeshots and two solid performances, Liam put his name in the history books. After his grandfather Harry (24 GP wins) and his father Stefan (101 GP wins), Liam joins them with his first GP victory in Germany (Teutschenthal).

Â
]]>It was my first time in Argentina and first of all I want to say that the track, the crow and the overall atmosphere was amazing! I think it's one of my favourite GP's.
The feeling on the bike was good all weekend. Despite nursing the wrist injury and feeling a bit sick for a few days I still felt good on track.
The qualifying heat went better than expected with a 5th place start I managed to overtake for fourth place and keep it until the finish line. A good pick for the starting grid on Sunday and my first championship points for 2023!
In the first heat my start was completely messed up. Because of the wet surface at the starting gate my back wheel spun out and I almost went over my handlebars at the start. I went dead last into the first corner. By avoiding a few first lap crashes and making good speed, I made it up to 7th at the end of the first lap! I felt good and even got to battle with my teammate for a while. In the end I got up to 5th place in the first race of the season.
The second race started way better than the first, but after a few laps I got passed quite aggressively by De Wolf. I couldn't avoid his back wheel and went down pretty hard. After that my good feeling was gone and I struggled to get back to a good position. Even making another mistake on my own when I was back up in 11th position. I didn't give up, because every point counts. But I only got back to 13th place in the 2nd race of the day.
Overall I finished the weekend in 9th place. The feeling was good, going down like that in the second heat was a bit unnecessary, but I'm already looking forward. I hope to improve my result and do better in Sardegna (Italy) in two weeks!
]]>My winter preparations went good! I had one fairly heavy crash during practice, right before the first race of the Italian International championship in Ponte a Egola. Fortunately without any consequences. Besides that the winter preperations went as I had hoped.
I didnât ride in Argentina yet. Normally I would have raced the GP last year. But unfortunately I couldn't make it then because of my finger injury. So yeah, a new track for me!
I have no real expectations or goals for the first GP. Of course I hope to ride a good race and get a good idea of where we are at the moment. From there we will continue to build throughout the season. I try to stay calm about expectations & goals. Itâs a long season and I like to take it race by race.
Currently I don't really know what to think about the new regulations for the qualifying race. The top 10 riders will score points on Saturday now. But itâs new to everyone, so it will be an adaptation for everyone. It's hard to judge the impact of the rule change right now.
I am not only starting with a new bike, but a whole new team for me (KTM Red Bull Factory Racing) this year! The bike is very good and suits me well. I felt good on it right away, so that wasn't a big adjustment for me.
Haha, yes. Having Tony (Antonio Cairoli) as a team manager is very nice. I spent a lot of time with him in Rome during the winter preparations. We also trained together on starts, for example. I feel good and ready to go racing next week!
Â
]]>Hi Guys!
I just finished my second race of the Italian International Championship at Arco di Trento and I want to give you a quick report of the day.
The training started pretty good this morning. The feeling on the bike was good and managed to get the 2nd time in my group.
The first heat of the day was OK. It wasnât great, but I didnât get into any trouble and got a 5th place in the end.
Unfortunately the second heat didnât go as good. I went down in the first lap when Simon Längenfelder crashed right in front of me. It was impossible for me to avoid him. I got back up and tried to get back to the front but I crashed again later in the race. It was a small crash, but at that point I was unable to make it back into the top 10. I finished the second heat in 14th place with an 8th place overall.
Too bad I didnât get to finish the weekend with a better result, but my mind is already set on the first GP in Argentina now. The coming weeks leading up to that GP will be all about recovering and getting that good feeling back again.
Iâm confident and looking forward to Argentina! Â

]]>We fast forward to the last two Grand Prix races for the EMX250 class in Mantova. Sadly for Liam it all went wrong in time practice. Due to an unlucky crash Liam fell straight onto his shoulder. On first sight it looked like it was only serious muscle pain. But after the on-scene NMRI-photo in the professional MXGP Medical center, there was no other conclusion possible then that the shoulder blade was fractured. The decision was made to return home and to consult the trusted Doctor Claes M.D. He examined the shoulder and confirmed the clean fracture what means that there is no surgery necessary, the crack from 6 cm needs to heal on a natural way. This by resting for at least already 4 weeks.
Being injured is never pleasant, but the injury comes at the best possible time. After a very long season, a break was already planned. Somewhere at the beginning of December the build up to the new season will start with cardio and other fitness exercises. Riding his brand new Diga ProCross Factory KTM, is something that is planned for the start of 2022. This to create some hunger towards riding again, get him frantic to race again, ecstatic for the long heavy moto training and passionate about test-work.
âMotocross of Nationsâ
You would almost forget that besides all those Grand Prix races Liam also raced the Motocross of Nations in Mantova for Team Belgium. Due to the date between all the different Grand Prix races the Belgian federation couldnât send the strongest team. A team build on youngsters as Brent Van Doninck, Cyril Genot and Liam did great! If it wasnât for two technical did not finishes the Belgian squad couldâve and wouldâve been in the running for a podium spot. For Liam it was his first appearance, in the biggest race motocross knows. About the results, seventeenth and thirteenth he wasnât super delighted but at the end of the event he got the âRicky Carmichael Awardâ, an award for the best youngster at the MXoN.
All things considered 2021 was a more than decent season where Liam showed steady progression, and while everything fell in place such as at the EMX250 in Oss the Belgian showed his flashes of brilliance. We also need to thank a lot of people. Motocross is an individual sport, still after every rider there are dozens of people and companies who are making it more enjoyable, easier, possible for the rider. That is why we would like to thank all Liamski fans who are supporting him when times are tough and when times are great! Who definitely also deserves a shout-out are all sponsors; Foodmaker, Red Bull, KTM, TDL-Group, Carmans, VDK Autocars & Traveling agency, Gery De Haes Windows & Doors, Bouwconcept Freddy Versluys and Yoko but also Bike-Inn who delivers us the unmissable road cycling bike and mountainbike for training, 4Gold who delivers us the best possible supplements based on Liamâ DNA. They together with all others such as being Sport Vlaanderen, Maxxis, M-construct, Motorex, Renthal, Twin-air, Blackbird Racing, Moto-Masters, Sidi, Acerbis, Haanwheels, HGS Exhausts, Hinson, Regina chains, Xtrig, Ortema, Oakley, 6D, Dental Sport, Crossbox, Brisk, Craft and USWE are all key pieces in creating a qualitative surrounding and a competitive package for Liam!

]]>When the gate dropped in the first heat Liam took a decent start. The youngster tells us: âThe reaction at the gate wasnât that great. But I could run a nice line going into the first corner, this first corner is always a little dicey, so coming out in fifth or fourth was great. A few corners later I tried to overtake the man in third, while doing that I saw that just in front of us the two leaders came together and suddenly I went to the lead.â
Liam rode great lines and smooth but one little mistake in lap four made him lose the lead and drop back to seventh. He quickly picked up the bike and restarted the race, within no time he was back at the same rhythm as before the crash. Fighting his way back up, making up for the lost time. But then Liam made again a little mistake. This time no places where lost, only valuable time. Time he couldâve used at the end of the race. Now Liam would finish in fifth in the first heat, missing the fourth place with only two seconds. What couldâve beenâŚ
In the second heat Liam came already off the bike in the first corner, this in freestyle âNAC-NACâ style without going down. A few corners later he still decided to bound with the Latvian ground, and to crash. The Foodmaker-KTM rider dusted himself off and restarted his race, a quest to points. In a few laps he gained more than 10 positions. Sadly a big crash would end this rush to the front, Liam explains: âA few laps in the second moto I had a massive crash. Besides the time I lost by the crash I also needed to deal with a bike that was all bend up. If you look at it I still came awfully close to scoring points. Maybe. No not maybe, most certainly the most important point is that I walk away uninjured after such a huge crashâ.
Liam would cross the finish in twenty-second position. However due to the damage on his bike by the crash, exhaust included, he failed the post-race noise inspection. The penalty, being a loss of 5 places, dropped Liam back to the twenty-eight place in the second heat.
In the overall EMX250 Grand Prix result of Kegums, Liam found himself just outside the top ten in twelfth. In the EMX250 championship standing heâs still in fourth with 108 points.
The next race will be the Belgian classic in Balen at the Keiheuvel.

]]>For the third round of the championship, the brutal Belgian sand track of Lommel is knocking at the door! Asking Liam how heâs feeling a few days before his home 250cc European Championship Grand Prix he answered: âI feel good. The last few weeks we made some small changes on the bike. That makes that I really feel comfortable and confident on the bike.â
A home Grand Prix is always something special, are you one of those riders who are looking forward to their home race or one of those who hate the extra pressure? âYeah I like a home grand Prix, because youâre home early (laughs)! No, jokes aside, weâre trying to prepare for the race as normal as possible, and on race day it is off course nice if there are more people cheering you on. So I hope that the home crowd will be there in full force!
Is it any advantage that you turned more laps at Lommel then on any other track? âIt is certainly no disadvantage, but the track evolves completely different on open practice days then on Grand Prix weekends.â
After your great weekend in Oss, people are having expectations. But what is your goal for upcoming race? âTake two great starts and get a good feeling on the track while riding. When you take a good start and youâre feeling good doing your laps a nice result will follow.â
Now we know how Liam is looking forward towards the EMX250 Grand Prix! Liamâ races will be run on Saturday, and you can attend those races! Tickets for only Saturday are up for sale from âŹ25, for the full weekend youâre paying âŹ75.
]]>In time-practice Liam noted a fifth time in his group, this resulted in a tenth place starting gate. When the gate dropped for the first heat, Liam found himself just hanging inside the top ten. The 16-year old quickly found his rhythm on the lovely track of Oss! Gaining some positions, fighting himself a way towards and into the fourth place, Liam made a little mistake. This mistake led to a crash causing him to fall. He quickly picked up his bike and restarted the race in eight position, but at a brief moment it looked like the Yoko-clothed youngster had no response in him and fighting spirit left to make his way back to the front. Yet Liam took a breath went on with it and finished eventually in fifth.
For the second heat Liam opted for a startgate more to the outside. A ballsy move that paid off, going trough the second corner into the top five. From the first lap, the KTM-rider found his rhythm, pushing his way forward. His way of riding resulted in taking the lead with still 18 minutes and 2 laps to go on the clock. Riding fast and smooth laps, he gathered a nice lead. With a seven second lead it started to look like Liam had it in the bag. But with only a few laps to go a yellow flag at the wrong moment, broke Liamskiâ rhythm. Once out of his rhythm he felt how the heat and fatigue had caught up to him. With only one lap to go he was still in the lead, but one lap and two mistakes later Liam Everts finish in a well-deserved second!
The fifth place from heat one and this second place from heat two combined, resulted in a third overall, what gave Liam his first EMX250 Grand Prix podium of his career! A result that confirms that the young man is on the right pad. A confidence booster and a confirmation that all the hard work he, and his entourage puts in, is starting to pay off!

]]>When the gate dropped for the first heat, Liam took a great start! After a few laps Liam settled himself into sixth. Halfway into the race we saw a little crash in one of the downhills, what dropped him back towards the twelfth place in to the race. He would defend this place by tooth and nail. Resulting in finishing also in twelfth.
In the second heat Liam took a worse start than hoped. Way back in the pack, he showed his speed. Making work of fighting his way towards a decent points scoring position. This hard work resulted in a nice top ten finish at the finish line!
Both results combined gives Liam an ninth place overall finish, this in the first EMX250 Grand Prix of the season.
Upcoming weekend, Liam will race the ADAC Masters in Bielstein. Tickets are on sale from âŹ24, for the whole weekend, on the website of the ADAC MX Masters.

]]>Beside this news, weâve some never before published eye candy to share! Our photographer Gino Maes took Liam Everts to some extraordinary places such as the grounds of the Van Moer logistics group. This to find some out of the box compositions where also sponsors as Foodmaker got their place! Besides those pictures weâve also a great video of this all!
]]>To build on this, Liam raced past weekend in Mantova the third round of the International Italian Championship. After a bad qualification result in thirty-second place and matching gate pick, Liam still took a decent start from way outside. Passing through in seventeenth after one lap. Finding a fast and steady rhythm on this rough track resulted in picking up riders one by one. At one moment the top ten was even in reach but at the end of the race a twelfth place was what he got. In the âSuperfinalâ where the best 450 riders and 250 riders of the day battle with each other, Liam started around the eighteenth place and rode the whole race continuously around that place to finish eventually in eighteenth position.
Due to SARS-CoV-2, COVID19 it is unclear what the next race will be. But we will keep you posted!

This new partnership gives Liam some extra motivation to get a good result in the first round of the Spanish Championship this weekend. After the wrist injury sustained past year in Italy and the subsequent six months of racing inactivity, the KTM rider will now make his reappearance on the local circuit of MontearagĂłn, Toledo. You don't have to miss a thing of this reappearance, the RMFE, the Spanish motor sports federation will provide a live stream via their Youtube Page if all goes well!

]]>This positive news makes it an ideal moment to look ahead towards 2021. In the upcoming season, Liam continues to race for his own private team. Because the young Belgian can count on the technical support of KTM, he will race the KTM 250 SX-F in the EMX250 class. In addition to the EMX250 races, he will also race the Dutch Masters of Motocross in the MX2 class and the ADAC Youngsters. On top of the support by KTM, Liam can depend on a loyal team of sponsors, who make this journey to the pro ranks possible.

]]>Now a little more than two months later, Liam is finally freed from the cast around his lower arm. Meaning that slowly but surely his preparation towards the 2021 season can start. Under guidance of his physio, Liam will start by riding his Specialized road bike and later one he will progress towards some mountain bike rides. Weâre very lucky that those cycles are made available by Bike-Inn!
If everything goes by plan, Liam will be back on his motocross bike at the start of December. The next follow up appointment with the medic is halfway in January. Then we will decide when the metal plate that was used to fixate the fracture, is going to be removed. This so Liam doesnât have to start the new season as a cyborg.

]]>On the other hand, we got good news about the other injuries. At second glance the wrist wasnât dislocated. However Liam broke his right radius, but this does not need any surgery. Liam wears a cast at the moment and his arm will need approximal 6 weeksâ to heal. Meaning that Liam will be unable to contest the Grand Prix in Lommel.
